When it comes to the future of someone you love, it can be difficult to know when to start exploring senior living.
It does not always begin with a crisis. Sometimes, it starts with simply noticing that life looks a little different than it used to.
Maybe your parent is doing well overall, but you are checking in more often. Maybe meals, transportation, appointments, or keeping up with the house are taking more effort. Maybe they are spending more time at home and less time doing the things they once enjoyed.
None of those things automatically mean a move is needed.
They can be a good reason to start talking about the future while there is still plenty of time to think though.
So, where do you start? A conversation about what matters most to your parent can be a good first step.
A few questions can help get the conversation started:
• What would they want daily life to look like if they ever needed more support?
• Which routines or activities matter most to them?
• What would help a new place feel comfortable and familiar?
• What kind of support could make life easier while preserving independence?
Planning ahead does not mean making a decision today.
It simply gives families more time to learn, ask questions, understand their options, and include their loved one in the conversation.
As Eden Springs prepares to open in Chanhassen in early 2027, we hope to be a helpful resource for families who are beginning to think about what the future may look like, whether that decision is near or still well down the road.
Warmly,
The Eden Springs Team
